Man Walking Dog Dies After Las Vegas Hit-and-Run, Driver Remains at Large

The 30-year-old man who was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking his dog in east Las Vegas has died, reports Fox5 Las Vegas. He was pronounced dead at University Medical Center on May 12, ten days after the crash.

Police say the fatal collision occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on May 2 at East Charleston Boulevard and North Mojave Road. The man was in a marked crosswalk with his dog when a dark-colored SUV traveling westbound on Charleston struck him and fled the scene.

As we reported last week, police located the suspect vehicle on May 8. It was identified as a blue 2015 Toyota RAV4, and is expected to have moderate damage to the right-side headlight assembly, the hood, and possibly the lower right corner of the windshield.

The driver has still not been found. His death is the 42nd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction so far in 2026.

Police noted that while the man was in a marked crosswalk, he was crossing against the traffic control signal. The front of the SUV collided with his right side, projecting him forward onto the roadway.

The fate of the dog he was walking has not been publicly confirmed. No outlet has reported on the animal’s condition, and we will update this article if we receive more information.
