Fi is recalling two dog supplements because they could be contaminated with Salmonella, according to a company announcement posted by the FDA.

The recalled products are Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs and Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs, both in 180 gram containers.

Las Vegas owners who ordered them online are affected, since the supplements were sold directly to consumers and through Amazon and Chewy.com.

The Calming supplement is lot number 26118 with UPC 8 50064 80011 1. The 8-in-1 Formula is lot number 26159 with UPC 8 50055 11168 4.

Fi said the potential contamination traces to an ingredient supplied to its manufacturer. The manufacturer has suspended production while it investigates, and Fi is notifying affected customers.

Owners who bought either lot should stop giving the product, make sure the container is tightly sealed, and throw it in the trash.

Salmonella can make dogs sick, and people can be exposed by handling the product or a dog’s waste.

Dogs with an infection may be lethargic and have diarrhea, fever, or vomiting, while some show only a decreased appetite or abdominal pain.

Even healthy dogs can carry Salmonella and pass it to other animals or people. Anyone whose dog ate the recalled supplement and shows these signs should call a veterinarian.

People who handle the product should wash their hands thoroughly afterward. Healthy people who develop nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, or fever after contact should contact a healthcare provider.

Adverse events or quality problems can be reported to the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine online.
