North Las Vegas Paws in the Park Brings Free Vaccines, Microchips, and Halloween Pawrade October 24
Dog owners in North Las Vegas can get free vaccinations, microchips, and pet exams for their dogs this Saturday, October 24, at the city’s 7th annual Paws in the Park.
The free event runs from 10 AM to 2 PM at Aliante Nature Discovery Park, according to the City of North Las Vegas.
This year’s edition doubles as a Pet Health and Wellness Fair, with free care offered alongside the usual Halloween fun.
Hearts Alive Village will provide the free vaccinations and microchips on site, but pet owners need to reserve a spot by phone ahead of time.
Registration opened September 8.
To book, call Hearts Alive Village’s North Decatur Boulevard clinic at (702) 780-0002 or its South Nellis Boulevard clinic at (702) 297-7303.
The fair will also hand out free pet exams, veterinary care, and referral vouchers for spay and neuter services while supplies last.
The free chips come as Clark County requires dogs and cats older than four months in its unincorporated areas to be microchipped.
Beyond the health services, the park will host a Halloween Doggie Pawrade, trick-or-treat stations, food trucks, live music, and other family entertainment.
Two photo contests give costumed pups a chance to win. The Doggie Costume Contest will be judged half on creativity and half on visual impact.
The Dog and Hooman Twinning Photo Contest is for owners who dress to match their dogs. Judges will score entries half on creativity and half on likeness.
Entries are submitted by email, not at the park. Each person may send one high-resolution photo that includes their own name and their dog’s name.
Photos go to pawsintheparkphoto@cityofnorthlasvegas.com, and the deadline is Wednesday, October 21.
Winners will be named at an awards ceremony during the event on October 24.
Paws in the Park has become a fall tradition in North Las Vegas.
Last year’s sixth edition, held October 25 at the same park, was hosted by the city and Ward 4 Councilman Richard Cherchio, News 3 reported at the time.
That event also featured free vaccinations and microchips from Hearts Alive Village, along with a costume contest and a twinning contest that drew dozens of dressed-up dogs.
For owners planning a full Halloween season, the valley has plenty of other options.
Two other dog-friendly fall events, from pumpkin patches to Halloween parades, continue in Las Vegas this month.
Petco stores are also hosting Petcoween events across Nevada, and Heaven Can Wait Animal Society is holding its own pet costume contest.
Since vaccine and microchip spots must be booked in advance, owners who want those services should call Hearts Alive Village before Saturday.
