Recycle & Rescue Returns to Nevada SPCA with More Time to Plan a Shelter-Supporting Cleanout

Some readers told us after our previous posting that they would have appreciated hearing about Recycle & Rescue earlier, giving them more time to gather items and plan for the event. With the next collection scheduled for January 23rd, 2027, there is now an opportunity to set aside those electronics, appliances and other recyclable materials that have been taking up space at home while helping support animals in need.

Hosted at Nevada SPCA, Recycle & Rescue brings together recycling and animal welfare in a practical way: items that might otherwise remain tucked away in a garage or storage closet can help support shelter pets. Virgin Valley Ecommerce will be on-site to collect a broad range of electronics, appliances, metals and other materials.

What You Can Bring to Recycle & Rescue

The collection accepts a wide variety of items, making it a useful opportunity to clear out more than just old computers and household electronics. Accepted materials include:

  • Computers and electronics: Desktop computers, laptops, gaming consoles, servers, monitors, hard drives, solid-state drives, keyboards, mice, routers, modems, switches, circuit boards and other electronic components.
  • Audio and video equipment: Stereo equipment, speakers, VCRs, DVD and Blu-ray players, record players, CD and MP3 players, cassette players and other media equipment.
  • Household items and tools: Kitchen and home appliances, power tools, manual tools, motors and solar inverters.
  • Metals and automotive materials: Wire, auto parts and all metals.
  • Electronic media: VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, records, floppy disks and cassette tapes.

Virgin Valley Ecommerce also provides auditable data destruction through electronic and physical drive destruction, an important consideration for anyone bringing computers or storage devices that may contain personal or business information.

More information about the recycling program and its services is available through Virgin Valley Ecommerce.

Nevada SPCA Is Also Collecting Shelter Supplies

Along with recyclable materials, Nevada SPCA will accept donations of gently used or new towels and sheets, as well as dog and cat food of any brand. Pillows and comforters cannot be accepted.

These everyday supplies can be useful to an animal shelter, giving visitors another way to contribute even if they don’t have electronics or recyclable materials to bring.
