What to Know Before You Visit
New York-New York makes finding the pet relief area relatively easy with clear signage directing you to the dog area.
The straightforward route (exit the lobby, turn right, and follow the signs) means you won’t waste time wandering around looking for it, which is particularly helpful during late-night bathroom emergencies.
At 563 feet from the lobby, it’s a manageable distance that most dogs can handle comfortably, even in less-than-ideal weather conditions.
Summer Heat and Seasonal Tips
Las Vegas summers are brutal for pets, and you’ll need to plan accordingly when using the New York-New York pet relief area. Pavement temperatures can exceed 160°F in summer — hot enough to burn paw pads in seconds.
During summer months (June through September), the early morning and late evening are the safest times for bathroom breaks, ideally before 8 AM or after 8 PM when pavement temperatures are cooler.
If you need to take your dog out during midday hours, consider using dog booties to protect their paws from hot pavement.
The 563-foot walk means your dog will be on hot surfaces for a couple of minutes, so paw protection is important.
Winter months (December through February) are ideal for using this pet relief area, with comfortable temperatures in the 40s to 60s during the day.
Where to Exercise Your Dog
While the New York-New York pet relief area serves its purpose for bathroom breaks, your dog will need proper exercise beyond this space.
Dogs are allowed on the Strip, but only between 5:00 AM and 12:00 PM (noon). Outside of these hours, dogs are not permitted on the sidewalks or streets of the Strip, except for service animals.
If you do walk your dog on the Strip during permitted hours, keep them on a leash no longer than three feet and stick to early morning when the pavement is cooler and less likely to burn their paws.
For off-leash play and serious exercise, the closest dog park to the Las Vegas Strip is the Vdara Dog Park, located about 0.9 miles away at 2600 W Harmon Ave.
This small, free park features real grass, a gated area for off-leash play, a water fountain for dogs, and waste bags.
Although it’s positioned next to the Vdara Hotel for their guests’ convenience, you don’t need a room key to access it, making it a great option for anyone staying on the Strip.
Tips for Using This Pet Relief Area
Follow the posted signs for the dog area.
They’re clear and will guide you directly to the relief area. The straightforward route means you don’t need to do a practice run like you might at hotels with more confusing layouts.
Always bring backup waste bags and carry a portable water bowl, especially during warmer months. The 563-foot walk is short enough that most dogs won’t need water en route, but it’s good to have on hand.
If you’re staying at New York-New York but find yourself near Aria or Vdara during the day, their pet relief areas are close enough to use as alternatives if convenient.
