The devastating collision happened around 4 p.m. on Monday near Lake Mead and Buffalo Boulevard, where a local man was walking his three dogs along a familiar neighborhood route.
According to the family, a white or light-colored vehicle approached from behind and slammed into the group with such force that the owner was thrown to the ground.
The driver sped off without stopping, leaving the dogs and their handler injured on the roadside.
In the chaos that followed, the owner realized Moo Moo had also been hit.
The four-year-old dachshund suffered catastrophic injuries, and the family rushed her to the emergency hospital, desperate to save her.
Veterinarians acted quickly, preparing for what would have been multiple surgeries, but the damage was too severe.
Moo Moo fought with extraordinary bravery, but she passed away abruptly in the ER before her family could say goodbye.

She supported her family during major milestones and the quiet everyday moments alike.
Her sister wrote that Moo Moo “always looked for kind ways to help others,” cleaning Juju’s face every day and offering kisses when anyone needed extra love.
At the pool, she would follow each lap and meet her sister at the edge with wagging encouragement — “her unconditional love motivating me to keep swimming.”

Las Vegas police are urging anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run to come forward.
Investigators believe the suspect’s vehicle — a white or light-colored car — may have front-end damage consistent with the collision.
