The K9 Challenge, one of Northern Nevada’s most popular law enforcement events, returns for its fifth year on Saturday, October 3, at Fuji Park in Carson City.

 

The free, family-friendly event lets the public watch K9 competitions and live demonstrations featuring law enforcement dog teams from across the region, according to [KOLO](https://www.kolotv.com/2026/09/02/k9-unit-challenge-returns-5th-year/).

 

Attendees can expect food trucks, refreshments, and exclusive K9 Challenge merchandise, including collectible event coins, available for purchase.

 

We’ve [followed this event before](https://dogfriendlylasvegas.com/dog-news/local-dog-news/nevadas-hero-hound-k9-blady-crowned-top-dog-for-third-year-running/), and last year’s competition ended with K9 Blady, a Belgian Malinois handled by Sergeant Matt Galvin, becoming the first dog in the event’s history to win the overall Top Dog title three years in a row.

 

More than 30 teams from across Northern Nevada competed in 2025, with dogs tackling agility obstacles, narcotics detection challenges, and mock suspect apprehensions in front of hundreds of spectators.

 

Carson City Sergeant Nate Brehm has said the event shows off the discipline, teamwork, and heart that K9 teams bring to their work, while also giving officers from different agencies a chance to compare tactics and strengthen cooperation between departments.

 

Proceeds from merchandise and vendor sales benefit the Carson City K9 Team, helping fund training, equipment, and care for the dogs that compete.

 

Fuji Park is located in Carson City, and the event has historically run from roughly 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., though attendees should confirm exact hours closer to the date.
