A New Indoor Dog Park Wants to Come to Las Vegas — But First, It Wants to Hear From You

A new climate-controlled indoor dog park and social club called The Backyard is exploring a Las Vegas location, and the founder is asking residents to weigh in before any decisions are made.

A short community survey is open now, asking local dog owners about how they use existing spaces, what they would pay, and which features would actually drive them through the door.

The concept is still in early planning, and no location or opening date has been announced. The survey is the first step, with the founder gathering community feedback before moving forward.

The pitch is straightforward: a fully indoor, off-leash play environment with open play areas, self-wash stations, food and beverage service, supervised play sessions, and the option to attend events.

The space would be air-conditioned year-round, which is the detail that matters most in a city where pavement temperatures can hit 160°F when air temperatures reach 100°F.

Las Vegas already has one established indoor dog park in this mold.

Barx Parx on the west side of the valley offers a climate-controlled, off-leash environment with a craft beer bar, big screen televisions, and free WiFi for owners, along with daycare, grooming, and training services.

Day passes run $20, and memberships start at $37.95 per month. It has built a loyal following and won Best Pet Daycare, Best Pet Grooming, and Best Dog Training in the Best of Las Vegas 2025 awards.

The question The Backyard is essentially asking is whether there is room for more.

Given that triple-digit temperatures in Las Vegas now arrive as early as May and stretch into October, the window of safe outdoor activity for dogs is genuinely short, and the demand for indoor alternatives tends to outpace what a single facility can absorb.

The survey asks respondents how significant the summer heat is as a barrier to outdoor dog activity, what type of environment they prefer between family-friendly and adult-focused, and whether add-ons like supervised play and daycare would factor into a membership decision.

It also asks about pricing expectations and how often they would realistically visit.

For those without dogs, the survey leaves the door open too, particularly if the social and café elements would draw them in on their own.

That framing suggests The Backyard is positioning itself as a destination for dog owners rather than strictly a dog park, similar to the model Barx Parx has built, but potentially with a different atmosphere or focus.

If you have an opinion on what Las Vegas is missing for dogs year-round, this is worth five minutes of your time.

Concepts like this are shaped by the communities they are built for, and feedback at this stage has a real chance of influencing what gets built.

We will update this story as more details become available. For a full picture of existing indoor and outdoor options in the valley, see our dog parks guide.
