A tiki-themed cocktail served at a downtown Las Vegas bar has raised more than $8,088 for Nevada SPCA as of July 31, and the fundraising continues through August for Clear the Shelters and National Dog Month. Stray Pirate, a dog-and-pirate-themed bar in the Arts District, donates a portion of every sale of its Swig & Berries cocktail to the no-kill shelter, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

The $15 drink combines Hera the Dog Vodka with Svol aquavit, strawberry, rhubarb, lemon, and rosewater.

Hera the Dog Vodka was founded by animal rescuer Julia Pennington after two decades of saving animals, and the brand keeps money raised in each city local, meaning a drink bought in Las Vegas helps a Las Vegas shelter.

The timing lines up with two national campaigns. August is both Clear the Shelters Month and National Dog Month, so shelters across the valley are pushing extra hard for adoptions and donations this month.

Stray Pirate is located at 1321 S. Commerce St. in the Arts District, and the Swig & Berries remains on the regular cocktail menu rather than being tied to a single fundraising event.
