---

Earlier this week, Paws Patrol LV received a call that is unfortunately all-too familiar in rescue. Five puppies had been abandoned, left together in a cardboard box to fend for themselves.

Despite already being low on funds, the team answered the call. When they arrived to retrieve the puppies, they were surprised to learn that two had already been taken by unnamed individuals.

It’s difficult to imagine someone coming across five vulnerable puppies and deciding to take some while leaving the others behind. But rather than focus on what may have happened, Paws Patrol LV [put out a message](https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19mReEnBvr/) letting the people who took the puppies know that the rescue is there to help if they need support caring for them. It’s an offer that says a lot about where the rescue’s priorities are: wherever those puppies ended up, they deserve to be safe and cared for.

The puppies who remained were taken into Paws Patrol LV’s care.

## Blossom’s Story Took A Heartbreaking Turn

Unfortunately, getting the puppies out of that box was only the beginning.

One of the puppies, Blossom, later collapsed and required emergency veterinary care. She was intubated, but her condition continued to deteriorate. Blossom eventually coded, and after three attempts at CPR, she could not be saved.

For the team caring for her, it was a heartbreaking loss. Blossom had gone from being an abandoned puppy in a box to being surrounded by people trying to save her, but there simply wasn’t enough they could do.

Two puppies remain in Paws Patrol LV’s care.

## Paws Patrol LV Is Asking For Help

The emergency care came at a difficult time for a rescue that was already low on funds, and Paws Patrol LV has shared that its veterinary bill is climbing.

The rescue asked supporters to donate or share the plea for help. People responded by sending donations through Venmo and Zelle, sharing the post, and asking how they could help.

That support is now helping Paws Patrol LV continue caring for the puppies still with the rescue while covering the medical costs from this call.

For anyone who would like to contribute, Paws Patrol LV has several options. Its [donation page](https://www.pawspatrollv.org/donate) accepts one-time donations and monthly support through the Loyal Friends Club. Supporters can also contribute specifically to the Full Bellies Food Fund or Miracle Medical Fund.

The rescue’s [Amazon Wishlist](https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/FYJHJLLI34NQ/ref=hz_ls_biz_ex) offers another way to help, and additional options are available through the [Paws Patrol LV Linktree](https://linktr.ee/pawspatrollv).

## Helping The Dogs Who Need It Next

Dog Friendly Las Vegas has previously [featured Paws Patrol LV and the work behind the rescue](https://dogfriendlylasvegas.com/features/interviews/paws-patrol-lv-is-the-team-las-vegas-calls-when-time-is-running-out/), including the calls that bring animals into the rescue’s care when they have nowhere else to go.

This week’s call is a difficult reminder of just how quickly things can change. A rescue can answer a call for abandoned puppies and, within hours, be dealing with an emergency veterinary situation and a bill it hadn’t planned for.

Paws Patrol LV is still caring for the two puppies who survived, and the rescue is asking for help covering the costs of getting them through what comes next.
