Henderson Animal Protection Services is offering half off adoption fees for dogs 6 months and older from October 1 through October 31, [according to KSNV](https://news3lv.com/news/local/henderson-offers-half-off-dog-adoptions-in-october-for-adopt-a-shelter-dog-month). The discount marks Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

The shelter is at 300 E. Galleria Drive and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adoptions are finalized by 4:30 p.m., and the shelter is closed on Sundays and government-recognized holidays.

Unlike the Nevada Humane Society offer [we covered earlier this week](https://dogfriendlylasvegas.com/dog-news/local-dog-news/nevada-humane-society-waives-fees-for-large-dogs-in-reno-and-carson-city-starting-wednesday/), this one is in the Las Vegas valley, so local adopters do not need to travel to Reno or Carson City. Puppies younger than 6 months are not included.

The promotion follows Henderson’s August Clear the Shelters event, which also offered half-off fees. That event ended with 90 dogs and 34 cats adopted, according to the city.

Anyone planning to adopt should check the list of available dogs at cityofhenderson.com/adopt and confirm details with the shelter before visiting.
