Man Walking Dog Critically Injured in Las Vegas Hit-and-Run, Driver Still at Large

A man walking his dog was struck by a dark-colored SUV in east Las Vegas early Saturday morning and is now fighting for his life at University Medical Center’s Trauma Center. The driver fled the scene and has not been identified.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. at the intersection of East Charleston Boulevard and North Mojave Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

What Happened

Police say the pedestrian was crossing Charleston Boulevard from south to north in a marked crosswalk, but was walking against the “walk, don’t walk” traffic control signal.

An unknown dark-colored SUV was traveling westbound on Charleston Boulevard in the left travel lane when the pedestrian crossed into its path, reports News3LV.

The front of the SUV struck the pedestrian, throwing him forward onto the roadway. The driver did not remain at the scene.

Police have not said whether the dog was injured, or what happened to it after the incident.

Investigators are looking for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam or security footage from around 3 a.m. Saturday near East Charleston and North Mojave.
