For Paws Patrol LV, every search begins with the same goal, find the animal before it is too late.

The Las Vegas-based rescue team has built its reputation around responding to some of the most difficult cases, dogs lost in the desert, injured animals hidden in difficult terrain, and situations where time can determine whether a pet makes it home safely.

Recently, that mission was impacted when one of the team’s most important rescue tools was destroyed during an active search for an injured dog.

According to Paws Patrol LV, volunteers were searching for a dog believed to have been hit by a vehicle after witnesses saw the dog limping before disappearing into thick brush near a wash off Hollywood. When searching on foot became difficult due to dense vegetation, the team deployed its thermal drone to locate the dog.

Shortly after launch, Paws Patrol LV shared that the drone was knocked from the sky, damaged, and thrown into the water. The equipment was destroyed, ending the team’s ability to use thermal imaging during that search.

A Tool That Has Helped Save Lives

The loss of the drone represents more than the loss of expensive equipment.

For Paws Patrol LV, thermal imaging has become one of the most valuable tools in its rescue efforts. The technology has helped locate animals hidden in washes, desert areas, and locations where traditional search methods may not be effective.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Paws Patrol LV has faced the loss or destruction of critical equipment.

The rescue team previously experienced another incident involving stolen equipment during a search operation, further highlighting the challenges that specialized rescue organizations can face while trying to protect animals in need.
