National Service Dog Month

National Service Dog Month takes place every year throughout September. This observance is dedicated to service, guide, therapy and other working dogs who help humans in everyday life. Families often take the opportunity to thank the dogs and handlers they know and reflect on how much skill and training these roles require. It also helps people understand why strict standards matter and why not every friendly dog is suited to become a working or assistance dog.
