Dog Dumped in Suitcase and Left in Everett Dumpster Sparks Police Hunt for Abuser

A horrifying discovery behind an Everett building has shocked Washington State, after police found a dog bound with rope and zipped inside a suitcase, discarded in a dumpster as if she were rubbish.
Everett Police patrol officers were responding to what seemed like a routine call about suspicious activity behind a building on Evergreen Way when they stumbled upon something far more sinister. Sitting inside a dumpster was a suitcase, and officers immediately sensed something was wrong.
When they unzipped the bag, they found a female dog tied tightly with rope, unable to move or call for help. Whoever put her there had ensured she stood no chance of escape. Officers later said it was clear the intent was to make her “disappear without a trace.”
Freed from the bindings and rushed to the Everett Animal Shelter, the dog was given a new name — Binny — after the bin she was rescued from. But more importantly, she was given a second chance.
Despite being underweight and surviving an ordeal that would crush most spirits, Binny has stunned shelter staff with her extraordinary resilience. They describe her as “friendly, outgoing, and remarkably sweet,” showing no signs of the fear or aggression one might expect after such cruelty.
Binny is now eating well, gaining strength, and wagging her tail at staff and visitors alike. Her recovery has offered a powerful reminder of just how much love and trust animals can extend, even after experiencing unthinkable betrayal.
While Binny is now safe, the person responsible for binding her and sealing her inside a suitcase remains unknown. Police say the act could qualify as Animal Cruelty in the First Degree under Washington law — a Class C Felony involving intentional harm or suffering.
Detectives are urging the public to come forward with any information. Did you notice someone carrying a suitcase near Evergreen Way? Do you recognize Binny? Has someone you know suddenly “lost” a dog that looks like her?
Anyone with information is asked to call Everett Police at 425-407-3999. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
