Paws & Perks Showcased the Heart of Rescue at Paws in Charge

This past Saturday, January 31, Dog Friendly Las Vegas was proud to participate in, and sponsor, Paws & Perks at Paws in Charge, a community adoption event that offered a clear look at what rescue can be when dedication, support, and genuine care come together.
From the moment the doors opened, the atmosphere felt intentional. New faces filled the space, conversations unfolded easily, and adoptable dogs from Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League (SNARL) arrived with their fosters not just to be seen, but to be understood. Many visitors shared that they had passed by Paws in Charge before but had never stopped in — Paws & Perks became the moment that changed that.
SNARL’s Commitment Goes Beyond Placement
SNARL’s presence at Paws & Perks reflected a rescue philosophy rooted in long-term well-being, not quick outcomes. Every dog in attendance was accompanied by someone who knew them deeply. Their routines, quirks, comfort zones, and the small details that don’t always translate in online listings.
That level of care doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of a rescue that invests time, resources, and trust into both its dogs and its foster network. Rather than rushing dogs through adoption pipelines, SNARL focuses on matching the right dog to the right home, supported by honest communication and realistic expectations.
The result is fewer surprises, stronger bonds, and adoptions built to last.

Foster Homes are Where Rescue Truly Happens
If the heart of Paws & Perks belonged to anyone, it belonged to the fosters.
Throughout the event, SNARL fosters stood alongside their dogs, sharing not just facts but stories — what makes each dog feel safe, what helps them settle, how they communicate affection, and what kind of environment will help them thrive. The love between foster and dog was unmistakable, visible in the way dogs checked in, leaned in, and sought reassurance from the people who’ve been guiding them toward their next chapter.
Fostering is often described as temporary, but the impact is anything but. These individuals have opened their homes, adjusted their lives, and invested emotionally so that each dog has the best possible chance at a stable future. Watching them interact with their foster dogs made it clear just how critical that role is in the rescue ecosystem.
Connections That Felt Meant to Be
One of the most powerful moments of the day happened early, when a family arrived right as the event began, determined to meet a dog they believed could be their perfect match. After time spent together, careful introductions with their resident dog, and thoughtful conversation with the foster, it became clear this wasn’t a rushed decision: it was a considered, hopeful one.
That dog left Paws & Perks that day with their new family, a reminder of how impactful foster-supported adoption events can be when everyone involved is working toward the same goal.
Other connections unfolded more slowly but just as meaningfully. Maple, a gentle and affectionate pup, made a strong impression, curling into arms and creating quiet moments of trust. While it was tempting to imagine her staying close, it was even more rewarding to watch her form a bond with a young boy and his mother. With her foster offering thoughtful insight into Maple’s special diet and behavior, an adoption application was placed, a potential beginning sparked by patience and honesty.
Buttercup brought joy in her own way, soaking up attention, handing out kisses, and proudly wearing her pajamas, a favorite comfort item her foster says she brings over when she’s ready to relax or snuggle. Small details like that don’t just make dogs memorable; they make them known.
While we couldn’t spend time with all of the dogs that attended Saturday, it was clear that each has a unique story and are waiting only for their perfect match to find them so they and their new family and rescue one another.

Turning First Visits into Trusted Support
For many attendees, Paws & Perks marked their first time stepping inside Paws in Charge, and it didn’t take long for that initial curiosity to turn into connection. The Paws in Charge team met every question with patience and care, helping visitors navigate food options, treat selections, harness fits, and gear choices based on each dog’s needs, not trends or upsells.
Families spent time finding the right pieces, from everyday essentials to thoughtful upgrades, supported by staff who took the time to understand each dog’s size, behavior, and lifestyle. Between the items offered through Dog Friendly Las Vegas and SNARL, and the carefully curated food, treats, and gear available in-store, visitors were able to leave feeling equipped, confident, and supported.
For those not adopting that day, the experience still mattered. Many left with new knowledge, better-fitting gear, and a clearer understanding of how much guidance is available when you walk into a space built around community, not transactions.
Why Events Like This Matter for Future Fosters
For those who have ever considered fostering but weren’t sure where to start, events like Paws & Perks offer something invaluable: visibility. Seeing fosters in action, asking real questions, and witnessing how supported they are by rescues like SNARL, and by community partners like Paws in Charge, can shift fostering from an abstract idea into something tangible and achievable.
Community adoption events and foster fairs such as that offered by Pawtastic Friends create space for curiosity without pressure. They allow people to learn what fostering truly involves, how rescues support their volunteers, and how even short-term care can change a dog’s life. Many of the fosters present didn’t start as experts — they started by showing up, just like the attendees walking through the door.

A Day That Reflected What’s Possible
While donations totaled a few hundred dollars, the true success of Paws & Perks can’t be measured in numbers alone. Dogs made meaningful connections, families found resources and guidance, and new community members were introduced to both SNARL and Paws in Charge, some for the very first time.
For our team, the day reinforced what works in rescue: collaboration, transparency, and people willing to step in when dogs need them most. Paws & Perks wasn’t just an adoption event. It was a living example of how foster-driven rescue, supported by thoughtful community partners, creates outcomes that last.
We’re grateful to SNARL, their extraordinary fosters, the team at Paws in Charge, and everyone who showed up ready to learn, connect, and support rescue dogs. Events like this don’t just change individual lives — they strengthen the entire rescue community.
