Pet-Friendly Shelter Operations Training
Clark County Social Services is hosting a Pet-Friendly Shelter Operations Training on Thursday, February 18, 2026, from 8 AM to 5 PM. This full-day online session is designed for anyone involved in shelter operations, from experienced professionals to those just getting started, and focuses on providing safe, welcoming care for pets during emergencies. Spots must be reserved in advance.
The training covers all aspects of running a pet-friendly shelter, including proper room setup, sanitation, and outdoor access, understanding legal and regulatory requirements, insurance considerations, and ensuring animal health and welfare through partnerships with vets, mobile clinics, and animal control. Participants will also learn how to develop pet-inclusive policies, clear intake agreements, and leverage community resources for daily pet care support. This session is a valuable opportunity to gain practical knowledge and connect with others dedicated to supporting pets in times of need.
