Pet Network Humane Society and Washoe County Regional Animal Services have signed a new agreement to strengthen lost and found pet services for dog and cat owners in Incline Village and the surrounding North Shore area.

Under the memorandum of understanding, Pet Network will provide temporary care for lost and found dogs and cats brought to its Incline Village facility, reports the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

Animals will receive shelter, daily care, and enrichment while serving the required stray hold period.

The partnership formalizes coordination between the two organizations on intake, lost-and-found reporting, veterinary care, and placement efforts, combining Pet Network’s local presence in Incline Village with the countywide reach of Washoe County Regional Animal Services.

During the stray hold period, both organizations will work to reunite pets with their owners using identification efforts and the Petco Love Lost platform.

Pet Network Executive Director Simi Balter said the partnership reflects what is possible when organizations align around a shared mission.

We’ve followed Washoe County Regional Animal Services closely this year, including its role sheltering dogs displaced during the Bug, Stallion, and Hawk fires that swept through the region this summer.

For dogs and cats that aren’t reclaimed by their owners, Pet Network may transition eligible animals into its own adoption program, where they receive vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, and other preventative care before being placed with a family.

Incline Village sits on Lake Tahoe’s north shore in Washoe County, roughly 35 miles from downtown Reno, making a dedicated local intake option more convenient for residents than driving pets all the way to the county’s main shelter on Longley Lane.

Pet Network Humane Society has placed more than 10,000 animals into homes since its founding and operates a community veterinary hospital alongside its shelter services.

Dog and cat owners in the Incline Village area who lose a pet, or who find one, can bring it to Pet Network’s facility at 401 Village Boulevard, or contact the organization directly to start the reunification process.
