Milo, a Senior Lab-Corgi Mix, Is Looking for a Calm Home and a Lap to Call His Own

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, an opportunity to look beyond a dog’s age and recognize the wonderful companions waiting in shelters and foster homes. Some have spent years becoming the affectionate, loyal dogs their future families will treasure. Milo, a 10-year-old Lab and Corgi mix available through Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League (SNARL), is one of them.

With short legs, a big heart, and a talent for making himself comfortable wherever his favorite people happen to be, Milo has plenty of personality to share. He’s a professional kisser, a devoted cuddler, and the kind of dog whose tail reportedly turns into a little propeller whenever he sees someone he loves.

Now living with a foster family, Milo is hoping to find a quieter forever home where he can enjoy companionship, cozy spots, and all the affection he has to give.

A Little Lab, a Little Corgi, and a Lot of Love

Milo’s combination of Black Labrador Retriever and Cardigan Welsh Corgi makes for a distinctive mix, and his foster description captures his personality just as well as his breed combination.

Described as a little shadow, Milo loves staying close to his people. He’s happiest when he can share their space, whether that means curling up for a cuddle or stretching out into his signature Superman pose to soak up some attention.

He’s also generous with his affection. Kisses come naturally, and his excitement when greeting favorite people is hard to miss. For someone looking for a companion who genuinely enjoys being part of everyday life, Milo has plenty to offer.

Good Manners and a Love of the Simple Things

Milo isn’t just affectionate; he’s also bringing some impressive household manners to the table.

He’s crate trained, has excellent potty habits, and knows several basic commands, including sit, lay down, and come. Those established skills can give a new family a helpful starting point as he transitions into another home.

Milo – Available through SNARL

His foster family describes him as a low-and-slow kind of guy. Milo doesn’t need a particularly busy lifestyle to be happy. A comfortable place to relax, time with his people, and opportunities to enjoy the familiar routines of home are much more his speed.

For adopters who appreciate the companionship of a dog without the demands of a constantly active household, Milo could be a lovely match.

The Right Home for Milo

Milo would thrive in a calmer environment without too much noise or chaos. Although he has been gentle with toddlers, his foster family recommends a home with children ages 5 and older as the better fit for his relaxed lifestyle.

He’s also described as good with dogs but dog selective, meaning compatibility with other household dogs will depend on the individual match. Proper introductions are important to help determine whether a potential canine sibling is a good fit.

Milo is currently safe and loved by his foster family while SNARL looks for his permanent home. He’s been through more than his share, according to his rescue, but he hasn’t given up on people. He’s still ready to build a bond with a family willing to give him the patience, stability, and affection he deserves.

Canine adoptions include:

  • Vaccinations appropriate for the dog’s age, including distemper, parvo, Bordetella, and rabies.

Vaccinations are covered through the time of adoption. Any additional vaccine rounds needed after the adoption contract is signed become the adopter’s responsibility.

An Important Availability Note

Dog Friendly Las Vegas recently reported that Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League had begun the process of dissolution after saving more than 7,000 animals. Because of these organizational developments, prospective adopters should contact SNARL directly to confirm Milo’s current availability and adoption arrangements before submitting an application.

A Senior Companion with so Much Love Left to Give

Adopt a Senior Pet Month is a reminder that wonderful companions come in all ages. Older dogs may already know the comforts of home, have established routines, and have personalities that make it easier to understand what they enjoy and where they feel happiest.

Milo sounds like a dog who knows exactly what he wants: a comfortable place to relax, people to love, and a home where he can be close to the ones who matter most.

His short legs may be Corgi-sized, but his capacity for affection sounds anything but small. For someone looking for a devoted little shadow who specializes in cuddles, kisses, and the occasional Superman pose, Milo could be the companion they’ve been waiting for.

After 10 years, he deserves a forever home where he can spend his days feeling safe, loved, and right where he belongs.
