Pawliday Toy Drive for Shelter Dogs Brings Comfort and Cheer to Las Vegas Pups

The holidays can be a stressful time for dogs waiting in shelters, but a single toy can make a meaningful difference — offering comfort, enrichment, and a small piece of normal life during an overwhelming season. This year, Barx Parx and 3rd Reef Pet Supplies are teaming up to bring that joy to local pups through the Pawliday Toy Drive for Shelter Dogs, happening now through December 18.
Both locations are collecting new and gently used dog toys, bones and chews to benefit Henderson Animal Shelter and the Nevada SPCA. For dogs spending the season in kennels, these gifts provide stimulation, reduce anxiety, and offer the kind of emotional reassurance that helps them settle, relax, and show their best selves to future adopters.
Barx Parx – A Community Hub or Dogs and Their People
Barx Parx has long been one of the valley’s strongest supporters of local rescues, known for hosting charity events, foster spotlights and donation drives throughout the year. As Las Vegas’ indoor off-leash dog park, they also offer:
- Daycare and enrichment
- Training programs
- Boarding services
- Member events and social activities
Barx Parx continues to use its platform to help dogs outside its own walls, and the Pawliday Toy Drive is one more way local dog lovers can contribute.
3rd Reef Pet Supplies – A Local Shop With a Local Heart
3rd Reef Pet Supplies brings its own neighborhood-focused approach to the drive. Their store specializes in thoughtfully selected foods, treats, toys and accessories designed for active Las Vegas pets. With knowledgeable staff and a focus on quality, they’ve built a loyal following among dog owners who want the best for their companions.
By joining forces with Barx Parx for this year’s toy drive, 3rd Reef extends its commitment to helping dogs who need comfort the most — those still waiting for a home.
Supporting Henderson Animal Shelter
Henderson Animal Shelter provides vital day-to-day care for lost, surrendered and adoptable dogs. Toys play a bigger role here than many people realize: they help reduce kennel stress, prevent boredom-related behaviors, and give dogs a positive outlet for energy while they await adoption.
Items collected through the drive will help shelter staff comfort new arrivals, enrich long-term residents and create a more positive environment for dogs who desperately need stability.
Helping Nevada SPCA’s Rescue & Rehabilitation Work
Nevada SPCA is another major benefactor of the Pawliday Toy Drive. As a nonprofit focused on rescue and rehabilitation, the SPCA cares for dogs recovering from trauma, medical issues and difficult circumstances.
Toys — in particular chews, puzzles and soft comfort items — are often used to help these dogs decompress, rebuild trust and experience positive interaction. Every donation contributes directly to their wellbeing.
How to Participate
Now through December 18, donations can be dropped off at:
- Barx Parx
- 3rd Reef Pet Supplies
New and gently used dog toys, bones and chews are all welcome.
A Small Gesture With a Big Impact
For dogs spending the holidays in shelters, these items are more than toys — they’re enrichment tools, comfort objects and emotional support. They help anxious dogs settle, help energetic dogs stay stimulated and give shy dogs the confidence to interact with staff, volunteers and potential adopters.
A single donation can bring a wag, a moment of calm or even help a dog put their best paw forward when meeting their future family. And that’s what the Pawliday season is all about.
