207 Dogs Rescued in Major Dallas Dogfighting Bust

Dallas authorities rescued 207 dogs last week from a suspected underground dogfighting operation spanning more than a dozen properties. The coordinated raid, known as “Operation Fight Club,” involved the Dallas Police Department, FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the ASPCA. Investigators also seized chains, treadmills, weapons, and drugs commonly associated with organized dogfighting rings. Approximately 150 of the dogs are now receiving specialized veterinary care, behavioral therapy, and enrichment at an ASPCA recovery facility while evaluations continue.
Dogfighting Remains Hidden, Not Gone
Animal advocates say the scale of the rescue highlights how dogfighting often operates out of public view. Tami Kukla, a longtime Dallas advocate, emphasized that many seized dogs are behaviorally sound and deserve individual assessment rather than assumptions based on their circumstances. Authorities have not yet announced arrests, and officials confirm the investigation into the broader network is ongoing. Dogfighting is a felony in all 50 states, yet advocates note it frequently intersects with other criminal activity, making community awareness critical.
