Eat Chimichangas, Help Shelter Pets – Nevada SPCA and Tacotarian Team Up for a Tasty Fundraiser

Sometimes supporting animal welfare requires volunteering, fostering, fundraising, or opening your home to a pet in need.

And sometimes it requires eating a chimichanga.

Through the end of June, Nevada SPCA and Tacotarian have partnered on a fundraiser that turns a popular menu item into support for shelter animals. For every chimichanga sold at participating Tacotarian locations, a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to Nevada SPCA, helping fund the care of homeless dogs and cats while giving customers a delicious excuse to order one more entrée.

The goal? A collective 5,000 chimichangas devoured by June 30.

Supporting One of Southern Nevada’s Longstanding Animal Welfare Organizations

For decades, Nevada SPCA has served as one of Southern Nevada’s most recognizable animal welfare organizations, helping homeless pets find new families through adoption, education, and community support programs.

The nonprofit works with dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and other companion animals, providing shelter, medical care, enrichment, and adoption services while advocating for responsible pet ownership throughout the region.

Like most shelters and rescues, however, caring for animals requires ongoing funding. Food, veterinary care, housing, enrichment, staffing, and daily operations all add up quickly, making creative fundraising partnerships an important part of supporting lifesaving work.

The Restaurant Behind the Fundraiser

Tacotarian may be best known for its tacos, but the Las Vegas-founded restaurant has built a reputation for combining food with community involvement.

Founded in 2018 by Carlos and Kristen Corral and Dan and Regina Simmons, Tacotarian has grown into the largest 100% plant-based Mexican restaurant chain in the United States. What started with a single Las Vegas location inspired by a trip to Mexico City has expanded to multiple locations throughout Las Vegas and San Diego.

Community giving has remained part of the company’s identity along the way. Tacotarian regularly partners with charitable organizations and community causes, making the Nevada SPCA fundraiser a natural fit.

As the company notes in its own story, supporting the communities where it operates remains a core part of its mission.

A Fundraiser That’s Easy to Participate In

One of the most appealing aspects of this campaign is its simplicity.

There are no auction bids to place, no raffle tickets to purchase, and no special event schedules to coordinate. If you’re already planning lunch, dinner, takeout, or a weekend meal, participating is as easy as ordering a chimichanga.

Every purchase helps move the fundraiser closer to its 5,000-chimichanga goal while generating support for shelter pets waiting for homes.

And unlike some fundraising challenges, this is one where consuming multiple entries is actively encouraged.

Finding a Tacotarian Location

The fundraiser is taking place throughout June at Tacotarian locations in Las Vegas, Henderson, and San Diego.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or looking for an excuse to try the restaurant for the first time, every chimichanga purchased contributes to the campaign.

A Small Meal With a Bigger Impact

Animal welfare organizations often rely on a combination of donations, grants, fundraising events, and community partnerships to continue their work. Campaigns like this offer a simple reminder that support can take many forms.

In this case, helping shelter pets might be as straightforward as deciding what’s for lunch.

So if you’ve been looking for a reason to order a chimichanga, Nevada SPCA and Tacotarian have provided a pretty good one. After all, helping animals while eating Mexican food may be one of the easiest fundraising opportunities you’ll encounter all year.
