A Family-Run Las Vegas Trainer Is Helping Dogs Stay in Their Homes

There’s no shortage of dog trainers in Las Vegas. You can find them in strip malls, on social media, in brightly colored uniforms promising quick fixes. But step foot onto the property of Norton Dog Training, and you’ll immediately feel something different.

This isn’t a chain. It’s not corporate. And it’s certainly not impersonal. Norton Dog Training is a deeply rooted, family-run operation built on trust, connection, and care; the kind of place where dogs are treated like family, and families are treated like they matter.

Founded by Brad Norton after his own journey seeking help with a difficult dog, Norton Dog Training was born out of personal experience …not marketing copy.

Brad learned under respected mentors in Logandale, Nevada, working with elite hunting dogs and absorbing what real dog training looked like long before hashtags or franchises existed.

When he moved to Las Vegas, he saw the need firsthand: families struggling to make sense of their dog’s behavior and desperate for honest, lasting help.

So he offered what he had — not just skills, but heart.

That one offer became a calling, and today, Norton Dog Training is one of the most trusted and beloved training programs in Southern Nevada, serving hundreds of families each year through board and train programs, private lessons, group classes, and community education.

Training Rooted in Real Life, Not Sales Scripts

At its core, Norton Dog Training is a family. Brad runs the business alongside his wife, his son, his nephew, and two sons-in-law; a team whose loyalty and integrity show up in every interaction, every tail wag, every transformation.

When you sign up for a 28-day board and train, it’s not an anonymous facility caring for your dog. It’s people who’ve been in your shoes, who know what it means to hand over a family member and trust that they’ll come back better, more confident, and still themselves.

And that trust goes both ways. Clients don’t just drop off a dog and disappear. They’re kept informed. They’re educated. They’re supported long after the training ends.

Whether it’s a text update, a custom photo, or a follow-up session months later, Norton Dog Training sees every dog as a lifelong commitment — not a one-time transaction.

That’s why so many of their clients come back, recommend them, and become part of what the team calls the “NDT family.”

Rescue Dogs for Heroes Is Changing Lives Behind the Scenes

While Norton Dog Training is well-known locally for its results-driven programs and family-centered ethos, it’s their nonprofit arm, Rescue Dogs for Heroes, that reflects the heart of their mission most fully.

Inspired by Brad’s own military service and the ongoing service of his son-in-law in both the military and law enforcement, Rescue Dogs for Heroes identifies dogs in need, trains them as service animals, and places them with veterans, first responders, and children who need them most.

The goal isn’t just to create skilled service dogs, it’s to heal trauma, restore confidence, and offer companionship to those who’ve given so much to their communities.

As Brad puts it: “Dogs aren’t just part of our business; they’re the heart of our purpose and the reason we show up every day.”

Through RDFH, that purpose becomes tangible, giving dogs a second chance and humans a lifeline.

Givin Back Is a Year-Round Priority

Philanthropy isn’t something Norton Dog Training tacks on; it’s part of how they do business.

Every year, they organize donations and care packages for rescue groups, support unhoused communities, provide Christmas gifts for children in foster care, and even sponsor entire holiday seasons for families in need.

This past December, the NDT community rallied together to fully provide Thanksgiving and Christmas for a single family — food, gifts, support, and all.

When clients train with Norton Dog Training, they’re not just getting a service. They’re joining a movement. And for many, that’s as rewarding as the obedience itself. “We don’t just train dogs; we change lives,” Brad says. “And we take that responsibility personally.”

A Board and Train Program That Actually Delivers

Of all their services, the most beloved by clients is the 28-day Board and Train program.

This isn’t some cookie-cutter boot camp where your dog comes home more anxious than trained.

It’s an immersive, individualized experience tailored to the dog’s needs and the family’s goals.

Dogs learn boundaries, commands, confidence, and how to handle real-world scenarios, from recall in distractions to polite leash manners on a busy sidewalk.

For families who want more one-on-one time, private lessons and group classes are also available, along with year-round boarding, educational seminars, and community events.

It’s a full-service ecosystem — not just for dogs, but for the people who love them.

Community First. Dogs Always. Family Forever.

Ask anyone who’s trained at Norton Dog Training what stands out, and you’ll hear the same things: honesty, heart, and home.

There’s no gimmick here. No ego. Just a commitment to doing right by every dog and every human who walks through their gate.

As Brad says, “Every dog we train becomes part of our family, and every family who walks through our doors becomes part of our story.” That’s not a slogan. It’s how they operate.

So whether you’re a veteran looking for a trained service companion, a new dog owner navigating puppyhood, or someone whose dog has you at the end of your rope, Norton Dog Training doesn’t just offer help. They offer hope. And that’s a powerful thing in a city as fast-moving and fragmented as Las Vegas.

Because here, you’re not just another client. You’re family. And they train like it.
