A Summer Of Fun Helped Put More Than $450 Toward Animal Rescue

Published October 9, 2026

Earlier this year, Dog Friendly Las Vegas had the opportunity to connect with the team at Cowabunga Bay Las Vegas and McKenna Thayer, who oversees Regional Group Sales and many of the philanthropic efforts for the Cowabunga team. What started as a conversation about summer events turned into an opportunity to do something a little bigger: help Las Vegas families find another way to enjoy the summer while also putting money toward animals in need.

As we talked through what a partnership could look like, one thing became clear. There was an opportunity to connect summer fun with a cause that matters deeply to the DFLV community.

Together, Cowabunga Bay and Dog Friendly Las Vegas created an offer that gave people another reason to make a summer day at the waterpark part of their plans, with a portion of proceeds designated for Paw Partners Unleashed.

And now that summer has wrapped, we’re happy to share where that effort landed.

More than $450 was donated to Paw Partners Unleashed through the partnership late last month.

It may be easy to look at $450 as a relatively small number when talking about the needs facing animal welfare. But anyone who has spent time around rescue knows that money doesn’t have to solve everything to make a difference.

Why Paw Partners Unleashed

Paw Partners Unleashed was an especially fitting organization to benefit from the partnership.

As we shared in our previous feature on Paw Partners Unleashed, the nonprofit isn’t operating its own shelter or taking the place of the many rescues already doing that work. Instead, Paw Partners Unleashed helps strengthen the organizations and people already working to save animals throughout the community.

That can mean supplies for a rescue that needs them, support for underserved pet owners trying to keep their animals at home, or funding that helps cover veterinary care.

Their Pins for Paws program is one example. Through the monthly bowling fundraiser, participating rescue partners have an opportunity to receive funds directed toward veterinary expenses. Since its launch, the program has contributed more than $129,000 toward vet care.

That broader approach is part of why Paw Partners Unleashed made sense for this partnership. Supporting them doesn’t just benefit one animal or one rescue. It helps an organization that is actively working to support the larger rescue network.

What $450 Can Mean To A Rescue

There isn’t one universal answer to what $450 can cover in veterinary care because every animal and every medical situation is different. But it can absolutely become part of the solution.

Depending on the need, $450 could help cover a veterinary examination and medications, contribute toward diagnostic testing, help with vaccines and preventative care for animals preparing for adoption, or become a meaningful portion of a much larger emergency veterinary bill.

For a rescue balancing food, supplies, transportation, foster care and medical expenses, being able to put another $450 toward the veterinary side of that equation means money that doesn’t have to come from somewhere else.

And that’s really the point.

The money raised doesn’t need to fund an entire medical case to be useful. It simply needs to help.

Thank You For Making The Partnership Work

Of course, none of this happens because three organizations decide to collaborate on paper.

It happens because people participate.

Thank you to everyone who purchased through the summer offers shared by Dog Friendly Las Vegas and Paw Partners Unleashed, helping turn a day at Cowabunga Bay into a little more support for animals in need. The Paw Partners team also continued sharing the opportunity throughout the year, helping make sure the partnership reached the people who could benefit from it.

Cowabunga Bay brought the summer fun and the opportunity to connect that experience with giving back. Paw Partners Unleashed brought its deep commitment to supporting the rescue community. Dog Friendly Las Vegas helped bring the pieces together and identify an organization where those proceeds could have a meaningful impact.

That’s what community partnerships can look like when everyone brings something to the table.

Nobody had to give up a summer afternoon. Nobody had to organize another fundraiser or write another check. People enjoyed a day at the waterpark, and a portion of those purchases ultimately helped support the people working to keep animals healthy, safe and in homes.

That’s a pretty great outcome for a summer day.

A Little Fun Can Go A Long Way

At Dog Friendly Las Vegas, we talk a lot about finding ways to make life with dogs more enjoyable, but being dog-friendly has always meant more to us than simply finding places to take your dog.

It’s also about the people and organizations working to make life better for animals throughout Nevada.

This partnership gave us a chance to connect those two things: a summer activity families could enjoy and meaningful support for an organization helping the rescue community. We’re grateful to Cowabunga Bay for seeing the opportunity, to Paw Partners Unleashed for helping bring it to its audience, and especially to everyone who participated.

More than $450 is now headed toward the work of Paw Partners Unleashed.

And that’s $450 that can help pay a vet bill, provide needed care, or give a rescue partner a little more room to keep doing what it does best: helping animals.
