Las Vegas dog owners have another chance to see their pup become a local celebrity while supporting a cause that helps dogs and people throughout Southern Nevada.
Michael’s Angel Paws has officially opened submissions for its 2026 Calendar Contest, one of the organization’s largest annual fundraisers. The contest gives dog owners the opportunity to have their pup featured in the nonprofit’s official 2026 calendar while helping fund programs that support service dogs, therapy dogs, and community dog training initiatives.
Submissions are open through June 14, with voting beginning on June 16.
How the Contest Works
Entering is simple.
Dog owners can submit a photo of their pup for $20, which also includes a copy of the finished 2026 calendar. Once submissions close, community voting begins, with each vote costing $1.
The top 13 dogs will earn a featured spot in the calendar and receive a professional pet photoshoot with Jennifer Bagwell to create the images used in the final publication.
As anyone who has participated in one of these contests knows, things can get surprisingly competitive once friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, and social media followers start rallying behind their favorite canine contestant.
Whether your dog is known for being photogenic, goofy, adventurous, cuddly, or simply impossible to ignore, this is their opportunity to shine.
More Than a Photo Contest
While the calendar creates plenty of fun competition, the real purpose is fundraising.
Proceeds help Michael’s Angel Paws continue its mission of Helping Others Pawsitively Everyday (H.O.P.E.), supporting programs that pair service and therapy dogs with individuals who benefit from their assistance while also providing community dog training opportunities.
For many nonprofits, creative fundraising events like calendar contests provide a way to engage supporters while generating funding for ongoing programs and services.
Rather than simply asking for donations, organizations can offer participants something memorable in return, and who doesn’t love seeing a local dog become a calendar star?
Photo Rules to Know Before Entering
If you’re considering entering, there are a few requirements to keep in mind:
- Dogs only
- One dog per photo
- No people in the image
- No heavy filters, stickers, logos, or doodles
- Professional photos are not permitted
- Dogs must be available and comfortable participating in the winner photoshoot if selected
As always, choosing the right photo can make all the difference. Clear images, expressive faces, and photos that capture your dog’s unique personality often stand out when voting begins.
Calendar Contest Season Has Arrived
Dog Friendly Las Vegas readers may recognize a familiar theme.
Michael’s Angel Paws isn’t the only local organization using calendars to raise funds this summer. Nevada SPCA recently announced its own annual pet calendar contest, giving pet owners another opportunity to support animal welfare organizations while celebrating their beloved companions.
For households with multiple pets, or particularly photogenic dogs, there’s nothing preventing participation in both efforts.
Supporting Local Dogs, One Vote at a Time
Calendar contests have become a fun tradition in the animal welfare community because they combine fundraising, community engagement, and a healthy dose of friendly competition.
Whether you’re hoping your dog earns a featured month or simply want to support a worthy cause by casting a few votes, every entry and vote helps fund programs that benefit dogs and the people who depend on them.
Submissions for the 2026 Michael’s Angel Paws Calendar Contest are open now through June 14, with voting beginning June 16.
Dog owners interested in entering can submit their pup through June 14 via the official Michael’s Angel Paws contest page at GoGo Photo Contest.
