Friends of Henderson Animal Support says someone broke into its storage unit over the weekend and made off with thousands of dollars in donated pet supplies.

The nonprofit, which supports the Henderson Animal Shelter, has filed a police report and is asking the community to help restock what was taken.

Henderson police confirmed officers responded to a burglary report on Saturday, September 19, at a storage facility in the 80 block of East Horizon Ridge Parkway, near I-11.

The theft happened at FOHAS’s storage unit, not at the Henderson Animal Shelter itself.

Surveillance footage shows two women climbing over the facility’s main gate before taking the items, according to FOHAS co-founder Kenni Burdette.

She estimates roughly $7,000 worth of supplies were stolen, including five large tote bins packed with dog life jackets, beds, treats, and toys.

“You don’t realize the value until you start, in your mind you go, ok, it was here, it was here, and then you go, oh, it’s not here. You know what those things cost because you buy them for your pets,” Burdette told Fox5 Las Vegas.

FOHAS shared the surveillance footage in a social media post Sunday and has since filed a report with the Henderson Police Department. Police say the investigation remains open, and no arrests had been announced as of Monday.

The nonprofit normally supplies food, treats, and toys for enrichment and training at the Henderson shelter, and it also helps local rescue groups stretch their own budgets.

By Monday morning, the community had already started responding. Dozens of donated shipments arrived at the FOHAS office within a day of the group’s social media post.

FOHAS is asking anyone who wants to help restock its supplies to donate through its website or order items from its Amazon wishlist.

The group has run several community fundraisers this year, including a Dine for Dogs night at Lazy Dog Restaurant and a senior dog adoption sponsorship made in memory of a family pet named Tilly.

Henderson Animal Protection Services, the shelter FOHAS supports, is in the middle of an $8 million facility renovation that the Henderson City Council approved last month.

The upgrades are separate from the supply shortage FOHAS is now working to fix after the theft.
